How to Find the Right Contractor Accommodation in East London (And What Most Teams Get Wrong)

If you coordinate accommodation for a contractor team, you already know the pattern. The project starts on Monday, the hotel rooms are booked in a rush, and by Wednesday someone is asking where the van can go.

Most problems with team accommodation are predictable. They are also easy to avoid if you ask the right questions before you book.

1. Ask about van parking first

Many London properties have no off-street parking at all. For a team with a work van, that turns into a daily hunt for a space, permit costs and time lost before the working day starts. Ask whether parking is on site, how many spaces there are and whether a van fits. Don't assume it does.

2. Look at the whole bill, not the nightly rate

A low headline rate can hide extras: utilities, Wi-Fi, cleaning, parking. Ask what is included. A stay with all bills included is easier to budget and easier to explain to whoever signs off the cost.

3. Compare a whole property with separate hotel rooms

For a team of five or more, two or three hotel rooms add up quickly. You also get no shared kitchen, no space to dry work clothes and no private place to talk through the next day. A whole house can cost the same or less per head, and the team lives together instead of across a corridor of strangers.

4. Check the invoicing before you book

Your finance team needs a proper invoice, not a card receipt. Ask whether a corporate invoice is available and how quickly you will get it.

5. Book direct where you can

Marketplace listings add their own fees and put a platform between you and the host. Booking direct means one person to call when a team arrives late or a project date moves.

What this looks like in practice

At N&D Stay with Me, the whole house is yours: four bedrooms sleeping up to nine, two van-friendly parking spaces, all bills included and self check-in for late arrivals. It is about 15 minutes from ExCeL and well placed for Canary Wharf and London City Airport. Corporate invoices are available.

Our guests tell it better than we do. As one wrote: "I could not fault the home one bit, absolutely outstanding. Also we had a brilliant host, very helpful in every way."
